Senator Taylor moved and asked unanimous consent that the Senate return to second reading for the purpose of rescinding its previous action in adopting Amendment No. 1. Without objection, the bill was returned to second reading. Senator Taylor moved that the Senate rescind its previous action in adopting Amendment No. 1. Senator Wilken moved that the bill be returned to second reading for the purpose of a specific amendment, that being Amendment No. 2. Without objection, the bill was returned to second reading. Senator Wilken offered Amendment No. 2 : 1997-05-09 Senate Journal Page 1908 SB 114 Page 2, line 29, following AS 15.13.160.: Insert: A labor organization shall provide each employee whose dues or fees are contributed to a political action committee, at the time of employment, and each subsequent re-employment, an opportunity to request that the portion of the dues or fees that are intended to be used as a political contribution be refunded. The request is valid until revoked. The labor organization shall refund the total amount intended to be used as a political contribution, for the immediately upcoming membership year, to the employee no later than 30 days after the labor organization receives the signed payroll deduction notice from the employer. Senator Wilken moved for the adoption of Amendment No. 2. Senator Adams objected. The question being: Shall Amendment No. 2 be adopted?
